It is situated in a peaceful countryside location, yet conveniently close to major roads. the building blends in beautifully with the old mill, which is also the restaurant. the staff was friendly and efficient, and our room was fabulous and spacious. the room was tastefully decorated, with comfortable bedding and additional cushions and throws. I loved that our french windows opened onto a picturesque mill stream, where we could enjoy watching ducks and geese. the meals at the restaurant were absolutely fantastic, with excellent service and reasonable prices. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

There was nothing negative about our experience at this hotel.

Fantastic Watermill location. A little remote and the local village of Lumbres was closed by the time I got there. To be fair it was 10.00 at night. Room 10 has a great view over the river and it is the perfect place to stay if you want some peace and quiet.

The Restuarant offers good food at prices you expect for a location such as this. If you are looking for quick snack you have to drive out.

Spaciousness of the room, albeit it was quite gloomy.

Directions to hotel could be clearer. Lighting in room appalling. With regard to the restaurant - limited staff, ergo service slow. Limited menu - starter was obviously prepared earlier, yet there was still a long wait. Main course acceptable. Dessert, again prepared earlier. The hotel has a reputation for cuisine, but it will quickly be tarnished if they do not become more adventurous, and I would be prepared to pay extra for good quality.

The hotel is situated in a charming and peaceful countryside location, yet conveniently close to major trunk roads. the room we stayed in was spacious and beautifully decorated in a boutique hotel style. We were delighted to find a walk-in wardrobe/dressing room, adding to the sense of luxury. the french windows opened up to a picturesque mill stream, where we enjoyed watching ducks and geese. the service was friendly and efficient, and the evening meal in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic.

We did encounter a slight issue with the breakfast selection.

I liked the view over the stream from my room. The en suite facilities were very good, as to was the walk in wardrobe. Staff attentive. Signposting to the hotel could be a lot better. Had difficulty finding it especially as it was not in the centre of Lumbres.

    No lift.

Located in a peaceful countryside setting, it was convenient to major roads. The old mill, where the restaurant was located, added a unique touch. The staff was friendly and quickly showed us to our amazingly spacious room. The room was beautifully decorated in a trendy boutique hotel style, with extra cushions and throws on the bed. We had a walk-in wardrobe/dressing room, which was a pleasant surprise. Opening the french windows, we were greeted by a lovely mill stream with plenty of ducks and geese - truly idyllic!

While the hotel had many positive aspects, there were a few things we didn't like. the prices at the restaurant were a bit on the expensive side.

We loved this 'hidden away' hotel. It's surrounded by fields and is lovely and quiet. The staff very friendly and helpful. Had a great supper in the restaurant - the children had the best kids meal ever! It's only half an hour away from Calais so made a good break point in our journey back from Disney.

Don't be put off by the surrounding environs which include a cement factory - but this really is a nice place to stay.

Very useful first/last night when arriving from UK before/after channel crossing. Good food.

Difficult to eat away from hotel. Menu reflects this as starts at 40 euros.

Excellent restaurant, quite countryside location, converted mill with character, very enjoyable experience.

Arrangement of the shower was rather strange.

Our room on the ground floor was spacious, especially for a French hotel, clean and comfortable. Regretfully the only windows were french windows that opened the full height and as we were at ground level we felt we had to keep them closed as we slept. As there was no a/c and no other means of ventilation our room became very warm and stuffy and uncomfortable during the night. (We were there in September) Delightfully when we did open them at dawn we were greeted by a serenade from the many ducks and a lone goose that had spent the night on the river bank beneath our window. We enjoyed dinner upstairs in the old mill restaurant which we found very pleasant and the food quite good. The service was exemplary too. The whole hotel complex is very pictureque with spacious car parking. We had noted from previous posts that the hotel was a bit difficult to find so we had printed off various maps and guides, plust having two sat navs, but sure enough we still got lost and it took us half an hour to find it once we'd arrived in the area. Once found it was ludicrously easy and left us wondering where we had gone wrong the first time. Our advice would be - don't cross the river! The crucial question - would we stay again? The answer is, yes, and we'd look forward to it, which says all.

Apart from a stuffy room (which wouldn't have been had we felt able to leave the ground floor french windows open all night) we were also disappointed with the shower. It was a standard shower head at the end of a flexible hose designed to hang on a wall bracket, but there was no sign that one had ever been fitted. We found the shower coiled up in the bottom of the bath and to use it, it had to be held aloft with one hand - most inconvenient - which was a great pity because it was a powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Perhaps the lack of shower curtain was the clue that it wasn't meant to be actually used as a shower !
